Baby artwork: Personalizing your baby’s room

Preparing a room for the arrival of a new baby is no easy task.  So many things need to be bought, furniture, baby bedding, toys, clothes, and what not. Then there is the task of decorating the room. This is where you have to make a major decision. Will you buy artwork for the baby? Or will you paint the room yourself? Both are great ways of creating a unique atmosphere for your baby.

If you are going to decorate your baby’s room with your own hands, there are many things you can do with very little effort involved. You can cut out patterns in various colors from colored sheets of paper and hang them from the ceiling with long threads. You can also paint various pictures of animals, birds, etc., on the walls.

However, if you aren’t confident about your artistic abilities, ready-made artworks are the way to go. You can find some good ideas in the list below,

  1. Alphabets in various colors – Alphabets in various colors printed on sheets of paper are great for decorating the baby’s room. Cut out the alphabets and spell out the name of your baby on the wall. Or spell out the names of various animals and birds. When the baby grows up a bit, he/she will automatically become curious about the letters on the wall. Then you can tell the baby the meaning of each name, and jumpstart her learning process.

  2. Baby posters – Babies can identify themselves with photos of other babies. Take advantage of this by hanging a poster with the photo of a happy baby on the wall. When your baby starts crying, point to the photo. More often than not, the baby will look at the picture and stop crying for the time being.

  3. Murals – Buy medium sized stickers with pictures of cartoon characters, animals and birds, and stick those on the walls. You can distract the baby with these when changing diapers or during feeding.

  4. Self-adhesive artwork – These come in various sizes, shapes, and colors. When you want to put them on the walls, simply peel these and stick on the walls.

Decorating your baby’s room can be a dream project. You and your spouse can do it together on a weekend. This will also reinforce the bond between the two of you as you prepare your very own dreamland for your little angel.
