Baby developmental toys for boys and girls: Beneficial, and fun

Toys play an important role in a baby’s development process as he/she grows up. These help a baby develop healthy motor functions, good learning abilities, and also serve a role in laying the foundation of the development of good memory. Different types of baby toys are available for different age groups. Let’s have a look at the types of toys you can give to your baby based on his/her age.
  1. Less than 6 months - This is a very crucial time for a baby. For a newborn baby, playing with toys usually involves putting toys in his/her mouth, and sucking or biting on those. A set of pacifiers in bright colors, such as, red, blue, orange, green, etc. can make perfect gifts for this age. Plush toys made of non-allergenic materials, such as faux fur and organic cotton are also excellent gifts. These can double up as blankets too, delighting the baby and keeping him/her warm at the same time.

  2. More than 6 months but less than 2 years - Plush toys are still welcome, but another good gift would be jigsaw puzzles with large sized pieces (so that the baby can't accidentally swallow those). A parent could play with the baby, teaching him/her how to solve the puzzle. Memory games based on differently colored pieces can also make good gifts. Babies of this age love to bat on things with whatever they can get at hand, so care should be taken to ensure that the toys are soft to touch.

  3. 2 -3 years - Large sized toy cars, and dolls are great for babies of this age. Cars that can be pushed with hands or pulled by a rope are good gifts. Toddlers particularly love cars that they can drag around. A set of different cars in bright colors is something that can keep them entertained for hours. Beach balls are also great, if a parent can play with the baby. Playing with beach balls will improve hand-eye co-ordination. Dolls are great for girls of this age group. They can take care of the dolls, bathing them and even feeding them, just the way Mommy does.

Toys and games can play a crucial role in a baby's development. But it is best if a parent can play with the baby. The toys and games can actually reinforce the bond between Mommy and kiddo.
