Baby learning toys for boys and girls: Let’s make learning fun

Baby learning toys are great for jump-starting the learning process of a toddler. These toys can help improve their senses of sight, touch, and hearing. You should accompany your baby when he/she is playing. Your guidance will not only help the baby to reap maximum benefits from play sessions, but will also strengthen the bond between the two of you. Some great baby learning toys include the following,

  1. Jigsaw puzzles - These work great in helping a child to understand about shapes and how different pieces can be combined to form one complete object. This helps in improving memory and cognition. Just make sure the baby does not accidentally swallow any puzzle piece, and preferably, buy puzzle sets with large sized pieces that the baby can't swallow anyway.

  2. Musical instruments - Most babies love creating noise by batting on household objects with whatever they have at hand. This is because they are naturally attracted towards sounds of all kinds. Using a musical instrument, you can use this natural habit to improve your baby's sense of hearing and eye-ear co-ordination. The best instrument is a drum; it is simple to play, and even a baby's hand is strong enough to create sufficient sound out of it. Let the baby bat on the drum alone for some time. Then you can join the fun and teach your baby some simple tunes. This will improve the baby's memory, because he/she will try to play the tune you played.

  3. Alphabet blocks - These are perfect for babies who are not old enough to beat on drums yet. These blocks come in a plethora of colors and babies can spend hours throwing these around. Babies tend to put anything they can lay their hands on in their mouths, so if you are worried that plastic blocks might hurt them, opt for quilted cotton blocks instead.

  4. Stuffed animals - Buy your baby a set of stuffed animals, and tell him/her the name of each and every animal in the set. The baby will try to imitate what you say. He/she may also start calling the toy by the name heard from you. This will not only improve the baby's memory, but will also promote learning. When the baby finally goes to school, he/she may already be familiar with the names and looks of a number of animals. This will help accelerate the learning process.

Baby learning toys make for some unique gift ideas. Next time you are invited to a baby shower, gift a baby learning toy to the proud parents. Your gift will not only be unique, it will be an important part of the baby's growth process as well.
