Baby strollers: Fun ride for infants
Baby strollers are great for parents who want to take their babies out frequently with them. Strollers are small carriages with wheels that the parent can push around, with the baby seated comfortably and securely inside it. The strollers are usually made of a shell made of tough cloth fitted over a strong metal frame. Most strollers have canopies made of durable cloth on top to protect the baby from harsh weather conditions. Strollers are available in various sizes, having room from one, two or three babies. Thus parents with twins or triplets, who may not be able to carry the babies around in slings or carriers, can opt for baby strollers instead.
There are quite a few types of baby strollers available, including,
-
Lightweight strollers: This is the most basic baby stroller model available. These are small, very lightweight and easy to push around. Umbrella stroller, a special type of lightweight stroller, can be folded up just like an umbrella to save space.
- Standard strollers: These are mid-sized strollers good for carrying one baby comfortably. These can have many additional features, depending on the price tag. Some strollers in this range have transparent polymer covers installed at the front. In harsh weather conditions, the cover can be raised to shield the baby from weather, and also let him/ her see the outside world.
- Car seat carriers: These consist of a metal frame on large wheels. An infant car seat may be fitted with it.
- Active strollers: These are made for parents who like to take their toddlers with them for the morning jog. All-terrain strollers and jogging strollers fall within this category. These strollers have heavy duty tires and strong suspensions to ensure comfort for the baby while riding on rough grounds.
- Stroller travel systems: These are great for parents who want to buy only one stroller. The stroller is medium-sized, and comfortable to the newborn. It also comes with a detachable car-seat, making it very versatile in its usage.
- Multi-child strollers: These are meant for parents with twins or triplets. These strollers are wide and have separate seats for the babies.
- Prams: These follow the classic structure of baby carriages. Prams have a strong frame supporting a solid, backward-facing bassinet. The wheels are large and made of tough rubber for durability.
Baby strollers are good for babies who have spent their initial months in slings and carriers. The strollers usually have enough room in those for the baby's toys. Several holders inside the carriage can hold feeding bottles, extra diapers and changing kits, extra baby clothes and even baby books.
