Crib baby furniture: Keeping your baby safe and happy
Crib furniture for babies should be comfortable, because neonates are going to spend extended periods of time in their cribs anyway. They don’t have much control over their movement in the first few months of their lives, so the crib and associated furniture should protect them from accidents. Lastly, there is the issue with the coloration of the crib and associated furniture. Most of us have a misconception that babies don’t understand the difference between colors. This could not be any farther from the truth. Babies may not know the names of the colors, but they do understand it when they like looking at a color and when they don’t. Only furniture that is sturdy, comfortable, and in vibrant hues can give babies the satisfaction they crave.
The following points should be helpful when you are choosing crib furniture for your neonate.
-
Make sure it's sturdy -
Your baby's crib furniture should be sturdy enough to keep him/her safe from accidental impacts. Make sure the crib is securely attached with the supporting posts. The high chair, or feeding seat, as they are often called, should have a wide base so that it does not topple over in case of an accidental push.
-
Check comfort level -
Baby crib furniture should be comfortable for its little user. Babies have super-sensitive skin, and even the tiniest splinter or rough edge can be extremely painful to them. Check the body of the furniture thoroughly. Make sure there are no splinters or jagged edges anywhere on it. Wooden cribs often have an odd splinter or two jutting out somewhere on the body. Have these sanded off, or buy another set.
-
Look for eye-candy -
Babies love sleeping in brightly colored cribs. Look for shades of red, blue, yellow, green, and orange for your baby's crib furniture. Steer clear of pastel shades. These soothing colors are for slightly older babies. Also, some cribs and furniture have motifs, artwork, or pictures printed on those. Pick one of these up to create a one of a kind experience for your neonate that he/she will love.
Let your imagination run wild when purchasing crib and furniture for your baby. If it seems lively to your eyes, there is a chance that the baby will find it appealing too. Trust your instincts and get the best furniture you can find for the newest member of your family.
