Diaper bags: For keeping baby supplies organized

Diaper bags are not just for carrying extra diapers for babies. A sufficiently large diaper bag can hold almost anything a baby would need throughout the day, ranging from extra diapers, extra sets of clothes, small toys, feeding bottles, and a whole lot more. A diaper bag can also be a great gift for a newborn.

There was a time when diaper bags were made of plastic to make those waterproof and leak-proof. These were bulky and cumbersome to carry around. But the picture has undergone a radical change in the recent years. Now, you can get diaper bags made of stain-resistant micro fiber, or a combination of leather and tweed. The bags are always leak proof, and are easy to clean by hand or machine.

The design has also undergone major changes. The common structure of having one large central pocket and several other smaller pockets has given way to more user-friendly designs, having many small pockets and two or more medium sized pockets. Some pockets are specially insulated, allowing those to hold bottles of baby formula and sippers. The large number of pockets allows these bags to be reused when the baby grows up, as travel bags, or gym bags. Different kinds of bags go well with different kinds of clothing, so if you wish, you can have multiple diaper bags of different designs.

Once you have purchased the perfect diaper bag, it is time to get it organized so that you will always have easy access to whatever things you will need for your baby. The following items should be present in the diaper bag of any mother who likes to travel around with her baby:

  1. Extra diapers: The diaper bag gets its name from this item itself. So, not surprisingly, this is the most important item in the bag. Carry at least three diapers, just to be on the safe side.

  2. Diaper wipes: You will need these while changing the diapers. Carry about 10 of these to be safe.

  3. Extra clothes: Always carry some extra sets of clothes for the time when your baby throws up on his/ her clothes, or spills some milk or water over those. Also useful for adding an extra layer of clothing if the little one is feeling cold.

  4. Good cream: This will come in handy while changing diapers in preventing nappy rashes. Lanolin based creams are particularly good.

  5. Baby formula: If your baby is past the breastfeeding stage, carry bottles with unmixed formula placed in those. Mix the formula with water only when it is time to feed the baby.

These 5 items will keep your diaper bag organized to handle almost any emergency situations you may encounter when out on a walk with your little angel. Buy a good diaper bag and keep it organized to enjoy the great outdoors with your baby in peace.
